This sharpening guide holds a 60x180mm whetstone steady and sets a repeatable edge angle. Holding one consistent angle is the hard part of freehand sharpening, and the guide takes the guesswork out of it.
The base cradles the stone so it will not slide on the counter. Rest the spine of the blade on the angle ramp and draw it across the stone at a fixed 16 or 20 degree angle. It works for kitchen, paring and pocket knives and suits anyone learning to sharpen on a stone.
